  1. “All good quality stuff”? Not so sure about that!

Not sure which range you got from Sharps but from what I beleive, the lower quality bedroom is usually 14mm faced chipboard and the upper range is usually 16mm. Yet almost all wardrobe, and for that matter kitchen carcases are now 18mm!

When you get down to it, Sharps seem to supply just sheet material and doors, and it’s the fitters who tailour and actually make the wardrobes. In other words, a quality fitter could make the same wardrobe buying the stuff from just about anywhere… and with these kind of bedroom companies you’re paying a lot of money for the marketing, advertising and sales person!

As others have said, I too think you could get the same wardrobes (pre-built) then scribed with panels to look just like the end result but with full internal carcasses for a lot less. Sharp fitters (the real magicians) don’t seem to earn that much!

On a last point, I can’t tell if it’s an outside wall but if it is and isn’t fully insulated fully fitted wardrobes can trap moisture and cold air to form condensation and then mould. The problem can be solved by leaving the doors open but from what I believe Sharps don’t provide any ventilation to alleviate the problem.

  2. I worked for them for 2 months of hell they do everything they can not to pay there fitters the product they use is infirier you got 5 may be 6 years max it’s 14mm low density fiber board.. What ever you do don’t buy this stuff it’s tacky and expensive trust me

  3. Interested to stumble across this as we often quote against Sharps and it usually works in our favour when customers compare the big company service vs the local company. Commenting at start of video so interested to see how your experience compares to stories I have heard.

    1. I’ve heard a lot of these stories and their approach is always to make up a silly price then give you the feeling of getting a discount with endless sales, arriving at a comparable price to quality local providers’ straight up price.

    2. Like most successful large companies they are experts at offering minimum product for maximum cost. It’s a shame they didn’t make clear to you that they don’t make full rigid carcases.

    3. good to hear you’ve had quality service, I think customers do pay more for the trusts assumed with a big brand. The experience can be quite variable depending on the designer.

    4. I was going to mention you actually as I have been watching your channel. It just makes sense to go with a local business with no salesman bollocks and “discounts” and better product build with care.

  4. Very random question mate, but what hair product do you use please? Look very well groomed! Great video too. Thanks

    1. @Chris Jessop Because they’re really bad construction. I have a big standalone set of drawers. Had to move them for the carpet to be refitted after the wardrobes were fitted. The back of the drawer at the rear panel gaped away from the sides!! 🤨. The drawer has a pants piece of mdf with 2 screws as a support bracket. Appalling construction. £9.5k of compromise from my IKEA malm that I had before. I have shelves in the Sharps fitted wardrobe that are already bowing with 5 bath towels and 3 lever arch files on it! I too didn’t know it was a facia only wardrobe, and being left with huge amounts of waste to dispose of. Really disappointed

    2. @The EQ 0610 Erin Quinlan I understand. They do offer a 12 year warranty though.. Have you been in touch with them to get it replaced?

    3. @The EQ 0610 Erin Quinlan will be interested to know the outcome. Although warranty is less a complaint more a standard procedure of things start to wear out etc.

  5. So they deliver 6 days before fitting. So clutteted house for 6 days!!!! Fitter, who by way is a contractor said the doors to big!!! Now 3 days later they said they can be delivered and fitted in another 3 days time. As you said all the waste cut pieces, 3 big bags full are left for us to dispose of!!! What a joke.!!! I’m a pensioner with 14 steps up to my car, this now at the bottom of steps. How can a specialised company measure wrong!!! Not impressed!!!!

  6. I am an ex sharps bedrooms fitter and i can tell you i have had many an argument with customers after i have finished a beautiful bedroom about leaving all the off cuts and rubbish for them to get rid of. We wer told from the office never to let a customer know that this was the case before the job was finished. If make a bit of fuss they will pay for a skip for you to throw it all in or they did when i was there

    1. Nope! I did this entirely of my own free will, and have no affiliateship of any kind. My reason for doing the video was to give an idea of relative costs, as I myself genuinely had no idea of the price range for wardrobes like these.
